Goodbye day one
Remember the good ol' days when elections brought clear resolutions by night's end? It's nearing midnight on the East Coast and, as promised, the election comes down to a few key states that broadcasters, chastened by the 2000 contest, insist are 'too close to call'. That doesn't absolve them of having to fill hour upon hour of live coverage with the most inane drivel. Larry King killed countless minutes with his insipid storytelling while that awful woman at FOX sounds like she swallowed a turtle. And was it just me or did anyone else spot someone cuddling with Jenna on the couch at the White House?

Yeah, I saw Jenna the Slut cuddling some twirp. Funny; you listen to the Kerry girl and the Edwards daughter speak with such intelligence and poise, and then you listen to/look at the Bush twits. That enough should have given the Democrats the landslide they deserved. Ugh. Could it be more devestating?
Angus, I have to take issue with your comment that Bush's win is the second worst thing that could have happened. I actually think that nothing could be worse. The scenario you depict, of a massive voter fraud and a paralyzed Washington, would be far superior. It would have brought out the empassioned small d democrats and small r republicans who believe that above all, we must have fairness and honor in our leaders. It would have stoked the passions on both sides of the aisle, even as we fought with each other, and we would actually, and ironically, have a strong democracy. Instead, big D democracts like us are outraged, but feel hopeless. We wonder if we have the energy to try again, to build a 4-year movement to unseat a contemptuous and incompetent tryant who is propped up by allegedly 52% of our nation, people who would rather have AK-47s in the hands of lunatics than decent paying jobs for poor people. Who would rather mercilessly bomb foreign countries (and send their sons and daughters in to do that work) than allow gay couples to visit each other in the hospital.
Anyway, lsst I leave without mentioning Larry King. Did anyone else notice that the man added nothing at all to the coversation on CNN except hogging the mike to ask the dumbest questions -- questions that anybody with a clue knew long ago. So he derailed a promising conversation (Carlos Watson has a lot of value to add) by turning it into "Election Night for Morons."
Hmmm. I suppose I shouldn't expect much more from the network that has Paula Zahn moderating roundtables.
