craigslist

I had a succesful sale of an old bookshelf today and the guy sent me this nice note:

Subject: Thank you

For being patient, and more than reasonable. Two tortoises have a bigger apartment now. Happy living!

Either politics, a titillating light thing that doesn't alleviate the heavier, or a cynical aside. There's something missing from your blog. Someone.
Where are you?

Your writing is well observed, witty, and a joy to read. But who are you?

I'm not asking for a spewing forth of a personal ad-esque tone. I just want to know who this is that I'm respecting.

Another anon. says to anonymous:

Why do you need to know him? He's a journalist. You don't need to see a soul to hear the facts well put. How could you possibly want anymore than politics and titillation?

How ironic that anonymous wants me to come out of my virtual closet! If you're so concerned with learning my identity, you can email me and perhaps we can both reveal ourselves.

and thanks for reading.

Your identity is Ben Harris. That's what your press pass photos tells us. What we don't know is the what is between the politics and the jokes. Anyone? What are the politics FOR? What happens when the jokes are no longer relevant, or funny? Where's the meaning. Even I don't know what I'm asking for anymore.
Perhaps sensitivity, the individual behind the bigger quesions.

P.S. Do you not notice when there are new comments made on previous subjects, (e.g. my comment on 'More Thoughts On The London Bombings')?

I'm not sure what you're asking for anymore either, anon. I don't really know what you want to know, or why biographical details really matter. If you like my writing, it should stand on its own, regardless of my background. And since you didn't take me up on my email offer, it seems you too would prefer to protect your identity.

And yes, I do read comments to older posts.
